Dr Jacqueline Rakov

Dr Jacqueline Rakov is a specialist clinical and forensic psychiatrist and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and an accredited member of the Forensic Faculty.

Dr Rakov studied medicine at Monash University. She completed a Master of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne while completing her clinical speciality training at The Alfred Hospital. She went to the Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health (Forensicare) to get subspecialty training in Forensic Psychiatry. She worked across Victoria’s correctional system, assessing and treating mentally ill offenders while studying Forensic Behavioural Sciences at Swinburne University.

Dr. Rakov’s passion as a psychiatrist is to ensure that her patients receive individualised and expert care.She holds a public appointment as a forensic psychiatrist in Victoria’s largest mental health service. In her private practice, she treats older adolescents and adults and consults on a variety of psychiatric concerns. Among these are depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, trauma, substance abuse, grief, and personality disorders. She has worked with both victims and perpetrators of crime. The further areas of her interest include developmental trauma, chronic illness, interpersonal conflict, and psychotherapy.

She also undertook further psychotherapy training through the Victorian Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists.
