About Dr Jacqueline

“I want to participate in creating a new kind of care for all patients, I want to empower them to play an active role in the management of their health, and make them feel confident that their best interests are at the heart of everything we do at The Village GP Black Rock.”

Dr. Jacqueline Rakov is a Melbourne-trained specialist clinical and forensic psychiatrist, and a fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).

Jackie studied medicine at Monash University. She undertook her clinical specialty training in psychiatry at The Alfred Hospital, concurrently completing a Masters in Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne.

Following her general training, Jackie undertook sub-specialty training by way of a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health (Forensicare). Whilst also completing further post graduate study in Forensic Behavioural Sciences at Swinburne University, she worked across Victoria’s correctional system, assessing and treating mentally ill offenders. She gained experience in the preparation of psychiatric reports and delivering expert evidence to the Courts, is experienced in criminal matters of fitness, mental impairment and sentencing, and is an accredited member of the RANZCP Forensic Faculty. She is able to complete medico-legal assessment reports for workplace and injury-related matters.

As a treating psychiatrist, Jackie is passionate about delivering personalised and expert care to her patients. She holds a public appointment with a general adult assertive outreach team in Melbourne’s West. Privately, she treats older adolescent and adult patients and consults on a variety of psychiatric concerns. These include, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, trauma, substance use, grief and personality disorder. Her further interests include developmental trauma, chronic illness, interpersonal conflict and psychotherapy.
